The valley is home to the Black Necked Cranes during winter which flies all the way from Tibet and returns back after winter's end.

Following Gangtey will reach the Bumthang Valley where several age-old monasteries and shrines are located like Jambay Lhakang, Kurjeu Lhakhang, Tamshing Lhakhang, Jakar Dzong and Mebar Tsho (Burning Lake)
